Additionally, Komen for the Cure ranked second on the 2010 list of the nation’s most trusted charities. Thank you to all who help us daily in the fight to end breast cancer!
How does a 5K Race make a huge impact on the global movement to end breast cancer forever?
Through the fundraising efforts of every participant.
You don’t need to be a fundraising expert to be successful at it – you just need the desire to stand up to breast cancer and make a difference. Thanks to people like you, in 2011 the Komen Vermont-New Hampshire Affiliate funded more than $418,000 for education, screening and treatment services in Vermont and New Hampshire. We support an emergency fund at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington and one at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. These funds pays for essential items related to treatment and to reducing the financial stress of having breast cancer. The money may be used for gas cards, food cards, snow tires, Cobra payments, babysitters, etc. – anything to ease the burden of dealing with breast cancer. These are critical services that your fundraising helps us support. Our grants help hospitals develop education, outreach and screening programs in both Vermont and New Hampshire.
With early detection being
the best prevention, more women are getting mammograms and are taking charge of
their breast health.
An additional $130,000 (25% of net proceeds) went to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Grants Program. Many of the significant breakthroughs in breast cancer research in the last 20 years have come through Komen-funded research. Among many other breakthroughs, this research helped develop the drug Zometa which is currently helping those with Stage 4 breast cancer live longer lives.
Fundraising is easy with our online fundraising tools!
When you registered for the Race you automatically received a link to your own fundraising website which can be personalized. Here's how:
Every dollar makes an impact – thank you for everything you do!
If everyone raised an average of $100 over the registration fee, the Komen Vermont-New Hampshire Affiliate would raise an additional $250,000. Together, we can save lives!
